Roasted Mushrooms: A Guest Post (and more!)

The Best Roasted Mushrooms

Hi guys! Just popping in real quick to mention a few exciting RP-related things happening elsewhere this week. First off, I have a guest post up over at A Cup of Jo! I made one of my favorite bachelorette dinners for Joanna’s Eating Dinner Alone series. It’s roasted mushrooms with copious amounts of butter and garlic (best soaked up with half a baguette, obv).

Second, I am so flattered to be featured in Shelly’s Currently Lusting series this week! Shelly is one of my favorite food gals, and her blog Vegetarian Ventures is gorgeous and delicious — I was super psyched to know that the feeling is mutual! (P.S. I think being Blogger I Would Most Like To Get A Drink With could be my new favorite compliment.) ;)

And third, totally delighted to be Food & Wine’s Instagram Follow of the Week! (Um, do you guys remember when I didn’t even HAVE Instagram [that was like six months ago] and I totally felt like a “how-do-I-work-this-darned-technology?” old lady when I started using it? Hurray for progress!)

cilantro

Hey guys! So I’ve spent the past several days fretting over this week in a serious way as it has become increasingly apparent that all the things I need/want to do — they cannot all be done. I leave tomorrow to spend an extended weekend at the NY homestead, where we’ll be celebrating my mom’s birthday (happy early birthday, mom!), and then she and I will be stepping on each other’s toes as we whip up a bunch of desserts for the annual West Kortright Centre fair. So those incomplete posts in the queue will remain that way for now, and I’ll instead just talk about some things that have been going on around here!

Rewind: Upstate New York

Untitled

Hey guys! So as I mentioned last week, I’ve been spending some time at my parents’ place in upstate NY while they’re away on vacation. It has rained almost every day I’ve been here, but it’s been those perfect kind of rainy days where it’s an even mix of overcast, sunny, and rainy. Just enough to keep the heat down and water the garden so I don’t have to. Since I love being here and I’ve been taking pictures like mad, I thought I’d share some (ok, so maybe a LOT) of them with you.

ramps

Hey guys! I totally meant to get this post up over the weekend, but I wound up with a super-full docket on Saturday between gallivanting around the first summer market, making you all a rockin’ pizza (with ramps, oh yeah), snapping some photos of J’s band in the afternoon, then heading down to NY to visit my parents. To all the mothers out there, and to my mom most especially — Happy Mother’s Day! Being around my mom this weekend as she proudly showed off her giant gardens she planted this past week, it’s hard to believe that only four months ago she was lying in a hospital bed recovering from a mastectomy. I love you, mom, and I am so not surprised that you’re totally kicking stupid cancer’s ass.

making spinach buns

Hey everybody! I just wanted to pop in and say hi, since I didn’t get a chance to put this post up this weekend. (If anyone has tried to visit my site in the past several days, you may have noticed that it’s been unbearably slow. We still haven’t figured out the issue, despite my admin’s best efforts to hassle the host site into figuring out wtf is going on. So yeah, there may be a need to switch hosts in the very near future.)

This rewind is kind of a random one, since I’ve been a little all over the place (mentally and physically!) the past week or so. Some is food, some is not, and I’m keeping it short and sweet so I can run out the door to a poker game (and hopefully win some money to make up for the impulse purchase mentioned in #2).
